Combine Trail Comes To An End

What Is It All About?

Hey Gang,
Well I told you I would report on the combines. I am sorry for the delay but I have been busy with both work and being a single parent.

Combine Trail Comes To An End
We did it !!! We covered over a 1,000 miles in two different vans and a total of 9 different young men got to show out their skill set.

We attended the MSL Combine in Atlanta and the Scout Combine in Louisville. The kids had a ball and I truly owe the man upstairs a big thanks. I also want to send out a big thanks to the parents who let them go as well as those who pitched in a few dollars to make sure the kids had a great time.

I took on a huge amount of responsibility and the kids respected my leadership and I appreciate that very much.

What’s It All About?
A combine whether it be NFL or high school is simply a test to measure your body and speed. The kids that are real fast love to get timed in the forty, the linemen hate it. The big show is all about the one on one drills.

Kids wait all day until they get that chance to play a little football without pads. A wide receiver just can’t wait to put the moves on a defensive back. A quarterback loves to put the ball in the receiver’s hands. The linemen love to push and shove and attack the tackling dummy used too represents the quarterback.

Is it the end of the world if you don’t do well in a combine? No but it is a good wake up call to say “get to work, you only have 60 days and we will be getting ready for the fall” June will be here a week from today and then we will be about 60 days from two a days. The combine is a good measure for college coaches to get a look at what’s available.

Life is about changes, since the last game of football was played at the college or high school level a lot has changed. They have issues just like high school coaches do. Some kids get stronger, some get slower, some get smarter and some grow taller. Kids in high school change that is what makes high school sports fun the kids are growing.

When you get to college you mature or learn not to put your hand on the stove the second time, but in high school all kids change their ideas from minute to minute to minute it so hard to keep them focused on the sweet spot in life.

That’s A Wrap
Well that is wrap.

Once again thanks to all. I hope the kids that traveled those miles remember the fun we had for a long time. I had a wonderful time and I am glad that I was able to do it. Big thanks to everybody who made it happen and we will do it again next year.

Thanks for dropping in and we will be back next week.

God Bless
